Introducing the 20ft Bell Care Pod

Following the success of our range of 10ft mini container care pods, we were commissioned to design a larger combined 20ft unit, to include hot water, hand-wash facilities and segregated visitor and resident areas, to comply with the social distancing and related norms.  Partnering with another care home, who wanted to trial an initial container at their site; we have received positive feedback and are now looking at rolling these out across multiple sites and for other care home groups and charities.

As you can see from the container images, the design was encompassed within a 20' x 8' ISO steel, storage container.  The unit was fitted with three entry points, allowing for a staff hand-washing area and then separated resident and visitor areas.  The residents area was fitted with a larger access door, to allow wheelchairs to enter and exit the unit.  Centrally, as with all our units, the container was fitted with a safety screen constructed out of glass, to ensure each section was completely segragated from each-other.

The unit has a separate staff area complete with hot water hand-wash facilities and storage together with a rest area.  The visiting sections are fitted with an intercom system, plug points, LED lighting, double glazed sliding windows and also heating, for use during Winter months.  The container is designed to be secure, portable and anti-vandal, to ensure safety on-site.

To blend into existing surroundings, the unit was re-sprayed in a cream colour, so it sits nicely on-site against the back-drop of an existing building.  We also arranged for a specialist transporter to deliver the container, using an on-board crane, to offload the container safely into position and also levelled the unit on-site.

Due to the impeding lock-down and restrictions on visitors, the container conversion had to be completed and delivered to site, within a very tight time-frame, so the care home could start using the Bell Care Pod and they could look into commencing third party visits, in-line with the Government's guidance.
