At Bell Container we are accustomed to tailoring our service to the individual needs of each customer, so please do not hesitate to contact us for help with your specific requirements.
However, we are also aware that there are some basic questions you might like to have answered before you contact us – so these are the answers to some of the questions we are asked most frequently.

1. Do containers come in standard sizes? What are the containers’ dimensions?
2. How much do containers weigh?
3. Will my containers need maintenance?
4. How secure are containers?
5. Will I need planning permission?
6. Can I put a storage container anywhere?
7. How long do I have to wait for delivery of a container?
8. Do I have colour options?
9. Is condensation a problem?
10. What kind of payment do you accept?

1. Do containers come in standard sizes? What are the containers’ dimensions?
Containers come in a huge range of sizes and types, and we can advise you about the most suitable for your needs.
As a guideline, common sizes are
Length: 10-40ft (approx 3-12m)
Width: 8ft (2.44m)
Height: 8ft 6in (2.6m) Click here for – Container specifications (PDF)

2. How much do containers weigh?
Weight varies according to size, but as a guideline
• 20ft storage containers weigh approx 2.25 tons (2200kg)
• 40ft storage containers weigh approx 4 tons (3950kg)

3. Will my containers need maintenance?
Containers are constructed to the highest specification from high tensile steel, which makes them strong, secure, and durable – even in extreme conditions. Therefore, our containers need minimal maintenance. However we recommend that doors are maintained by greasing hinges and locking rods regularly.

4. How secure are containers?
All Bell storage containers and offices are very secure and virtually vandal proof. Windows are fitted with steel shutters or wire mesh guards. Strong steel doors can be supplied with whatever padlock protection or integral locking system you require.

5. Will I need planning permission?
You do not usually need planning permission for non-permanent constructions such as containers. However, there are certain restrictions in a residential areas or near road junctions, so we recommend that you check with your local planning authority.

6. Can I put a storage container anywhere?
There are two principal requirements for the siting of your container:
• access for our delivery lorry
As a rule of thumb, the lorry needs about two and a half times the size of the container in order to unload it – with no overhead cables or overhanging trees (the crane reaches up to 25ft). Thereafter, if necessary, most smaller containers (up to 20ft) can be manoeuvred using a forklift truck.
• level ground (principally so that doors can open and close easily).
Before we arrive, make sure that the ground is level and that you have then necessary materials to make sure that the container sits level. Concrete blocks or railway sleepers are ideal.

7. How long do I have to wait for delivery?
Bell Container can supply most container units within 7 days from receipt of order or completion of the payment/hire agreement formalities.

8. Do I have colour options?

RAL-5013-RAL-6005

RAL-5013 & RAL-6005

If you’re hiring, your container will be Dark Blue (RAL 5013) or Dark Green (RAL 6005). If you’re buying your container outright, then for a small additional charge, Bell Container can supply your container in any colour you request from the RAL or BS 4800 Paint Code chart. Click the following links to see RAL Colour Chart or BS4800 Colour Chart. See the actual container in blue and green.

9. Is condensation a problem?
Since condensation can be an issue in any confined space, particularly in extremes of temperature, Bell storage containers are all fitted with ventilators, and you can also request anti-condensation paint on the internal roof area.
Bell Container Ltd also offer purpose-built ISO Insulated Containers with polyurethane insulation all round which ensures that the unit is completely condensation free.
But even on standard storage containers, you can ensure a flow of air simply by opening doors and/or windows regularly.

10. What kind of payment do you accept?
We accept many forms of payment:
debit cards
, credit cards
, BACs payments / bank transfers
, cheques
. In all cases, payments are required to be cleared before release of the units.

How and when do I pay?
You can pay by a variety of methods including company cheque/ credit card (Visa/ Mastercard)/ debit card.
In the case of a rental a deposit is required to cover the first 4 weeks rental, along with any delivery and collection charges. Thereafter, a standing order payment will be set up.
In the case of a sale you need to pay us the cost of the container and the delivery charges prior to release/manufacture.
